Alteration of transthyretin and thyroxine-binding globulin in major depressive disorder: multiple reaction monitoring-based proteomic analysis

چکیده
Abstract Background Major depressive disorder (MDD), common mental disorder, lacks objective diagnostic and prognosis biomarkers. The of this study was to perform proteomic analysis identify proteins with changed expression levels after antidepressant treatment investigate differences in protein between MDD patients healthy individuals. Methods A total 111 obtained from literature review were subjected multiple reaction monitoring (MRM)-based quantitation. Finally, seven quantified for plasma specimens 10 controls 78 (those at baseline 6 weeks either selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or mirtazapine). Results Among patients, 35 treated SSRIs 43 mirtazapine. Nineteen (54.3%) 16 (37.2%) responded mirtazapine, respectively. Comparing individuals, alteration transthyretin observed (P = 0.026). few related treatment, although they not statistically significant. Plasma thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) different before mirtazapine only responders 0.007). Conclusions In TBG altered treatment.

Thyroxine-Binding Globulin Concentrations
Plasma thyroid hormone concentrations may be abnormal in non-thyroid disease and pose diagnostic problems. For example, concentrations of triiodothyronine (T3) in the blood decline in acute illness with a reciprocal increase in reverse triiodothyronine (reverse T3), but thyroxine (T4) concentrations are usually normal or only slightly decreased (1, 2). However, McLarty et al. (3) reported that ...
متن کاملFamilial thyroxine-binding globulin deficiency.
Genetically determined thyroxine-binding globulin deficiency is described in two families in the United Kingdom. All subjects in both pedigrees were euthyroid. Transmission was by sex-linkage; males showed low serum protein bound iodine and high thyroxine (T4) resin uptake due to complete absence of serum thryroxine-binding globulin; females were less severely affected. The distinctive biochemi...
متن کاملMetabolism of thyroxine-binding globulin in man. Abnormal rate of synthesis in inherited thyroxine-binding globulin deficiency and excess.
It has been previously suggested that inherited thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) abnormalities in man may be due to mutations at a single X-chromosome-linked locus controlling TBG synthesis. However, abnormalities in TBG degradation have not been excluded. The availability of purified human TBG and its successful labeling with radioiodide allowed us to examine such possibility. Human TBG was pu...
